Cameron's Strategic Agenda
In March 2004, Cameron Price was elected by the people of Port Macquarie - Hastings to represent them as a local government Councillor. As an elected community leader, his primary goals were to ensure that every aspect of Council and the community is sustainable; and to shift local government from being a representative democracy to a participatory democracy. Since the dismissal of Port Macquarie - Hastings Council, while Cameron has shfited from Councillor to Community Campaigner, his objectives remain the same:
Strategic land use planning is essential if we are to protect the environment and provide for population growth.
Ecological sustainability is more critical than ever given declining biodiversity and the challenge of climate change.
Good governance entails openness and transparency and genuine community involvement in Council decisions.
Social issues like housing affordability, health, transport and the ageing population are very much on the agenda.
Infrastructure such as roads, water, sewerage, waste, parks and sporting grounds are being built and maintained.
Cultural development is important, as it is through arts and culture that a community's creative spirit is expressed.
